Safety as a Core Value
From day one on a project, we approach safety with intention and structure. Our philosophy is that safety culture begins with people and grows through consistent actions. This means everyone on the team is engaged, from executives to field personnel. Safety is not just a set of rules, but a shared commitment that influences planning, communication, and performance.
Franjo’s safety culture includes education, coaching, teaching, and training designed to create a safe work environment. New employees receive safety onboarding tailored to their roles, including required Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training such as fall protection before they work at height. Fall prevention, hazard recognition, and job-specific safety protocols are part of the baseline training every team member goes through.
Training and Daily Engagement
We believe that training should be hands-on and immediately applicable. To that end, Franjo integrates real-world demonstrations and interactive coaching into our safety education. Supervisors and safety leaders work alongside field teams to reinforce standards and clarify expectations. This approach builds trust and ensures understanding, not just compliance.
Beyond initial onboarding, ongoing training is tailored to specific job functions. For example, laborers working with specialized equipment may receive additional respiratory safety training. We also provide mandated OSHA training and other focused instruction based on the tasks our team members perform.
Daily communication on job sites reinforces safety expectations. Toolbox talks, hazard reviews, and clear lines of communication help identify and address risks before they become incidents. Encouraging open reporting and rewarding safe behavior further strengthens our safety program.
Proactive Safety Practices
Safety at Franjo goes beyond training and rules. We invest in high-quality equipment, conduct regular inspections, and adopt new technology that enhances job site protection and performance. By planning for safety from project kick-off through completion, we integrate risk management into every stage of project delivery.
A well-developed safety plan contributes to schedule reliability and cost control for our clients. When teams are protected and confident, productivity improves and disruptions decrease. This connection between safety and project performance is a key reason why clients value Franjo as a construction partner.
Industry Involvement and Safety Awareness
Franjo participates in broader safety initiatives to reinforce our internal culture and stay aligned with industry best practices. In May 2021, Franjo took part in the National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction, a voluntary event promoted by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The Stand-Down focuses on raising awareness of fall hazards and reinforcing prevention strategies, especially fall protection, which is one of the leading causes of serious injury in construction.
At our Stand-Down event, team members paused regular work to participate in demonstrations and discussions about fall hazards and protective measures. Franjo’s Safety Director coordinated the event with industry partners to provide live demonstrations that helped reinforce critical safety techniques and protocols.
Participating in events like this strengthens our commitment to safety and connects our team with larger efforts across the industry that aim to prevent workplace injuries and fatalities.
Culture That Protects People and Projects
At Franjo, we understand that safety impacts more than our team members. It affects project outcomes, client confidence, and long-term relationships. A strong safety culture enhances communication, improves decision-making in challenging conditions, and creates an environment where everyone feels responsible for protecting each other.
We value the well-being of our employees and believe that investing in safety training and engagement is both the right thing to do and a practical foundation for project success. Safety is a central part of how we deliver commercial construction projects with predictability, professionalism, and purpose.
